Writing 30

September 10, 2006

I am now thirty years old. Thank God for the Bar Examinations, it is bound to pass without much fanfare. Still, I thank Roselle, Ferdz, Spocky, Arvin, Mich and some of my students for remembering this age of passage from adulthood to spinsterhood.

“Writing 30” has been one of the idiomatic expressions taught in junior high school. According to Dr. Racsa then, it meant an end and writers often use “30” to signal the end of their manuscript.

Today, I write “30” to facets of my life I can already do without. Too painful relationships, bad habits, superficial friendships.

  1. Belated happy birthday, sis!

Ako din, I just recently reached this “age of passage from adulthood to spinsterhood,” pero di ko pa rin alam kung handa na akong mag-write “30” to supposed “facets of my life I can already do without.” Hay.

Kumusta ka na? I’ve enjoyed reading your blog entries sa friendster. 🙂

  2. Hi sis,

Thank you so much. I’m okay. Loveless, but otherwise okay. I will see you soon ha. You’re blooming in you friendster pics. 🙂
